Three marquee transfer commitments for Texas

Rodney Terry was the clear winner in the transfer portal on Sunday, landing three commitments. Tramon Mark, an Arkansas transfer, played three seasons at Houston before playing this past year with the Razorbacks, and now transfer to a new SEC school, Texas after averaging 16.2 ppg this season. Mark will look to replace the hole in the Longhorns’ scoring column following the graduation of Max Abmas.

Indiana State duo Jayson Kent and Julian Larry also announced their commitments to Texas on Sunday, both coming over from Terre Haute after a 32-7 season that saw the Sycamores reach the NIT championship game. Kent averaged 13.5 ppg and 8.1 rpg as a 6-8 forward, being named to the All-MVC Second Team. Larry averaged 11.0 ppg and 4.8 apg, leading the Sycamores in assists. The departure of Indiana State Head Coach Josh Schertz to Saint Louis saw this duo enter the portal last week and Rodney Terry wasted no time bringing them to Austin.

Arizona transfer Kylan Boswell commits to Illinois

Rodney Terry wasn’t the only coach to spice up his backcourt on Sunday, as Brad Underwood picked up Arizona transfer guard Kylan Boswell. Boswell averaged 9.6 ppg and 3.6 apg as a sophomore this season, filling the Illini’s hole at point guard. Underwood missed the playmaking ability of a true point guard this season at times, and Boswell in his third year should be able to do a good job at keeping this Illini offense under control and set his teammates up for success.

Other Things to Note:

  • Oklahoma transfer guard Javian McCollum (13 ppg, 3 apg) commits to Georgia Tech
  • Wichita State transfer guard Colby Rogers (16 ppg, 3 rpg) commits to AAC rival Memphis
  • Boston College transfer guard Mason Madsen (8 ppg, 4 rpg) commits to Utah and will now play alongside his brother Gabe Madsen
  • Penn transfer guard Tyler Perkins (14 ppg, 5 rpg) commits to Villanova
  • BYU sophomore guard Richie Saunders (10 ppg, 4 rpg) enters the transfer portal
