Zakai Ziegler’s 26 points, 13 assists lead #5 Tennessee to road win over #10 Kentucky

Tennessee’s experience went up against Kentucky’s young talent last night at Rupp Arena, and the Vols came out on top in dominating fashion. Ziegler was dishing out assists and scoring at will for Tennessee and added three steals on the defensive side of the ball. All five Tennessee starters reached double digits, as Josiah-Jordan James matched Ziegler’s 26 to lead the Vols. Tennessee coach Rick Barnes said he wanted his team to run with Kentucky’s fast pace tonight, and his team did just that, scoring 103 points in a 103-92 victory. This was a big bounce back win for Tennessee after their home loss on Tuesday to South Carolina. Kentucky on the other hand, has now lost three of their last four games and sit at 5-4 in SEC play. Rob Dillingham was the lone bright spot for the Wildcats tonight, scoring a career-high 35 points off the bench.

#8 Kansas dominates on the glass, shoots lights out in win over #4 Houston

Following a 3-3 stretch, the Kansas Jayhawks seem to be back on track, following up a blowout win over Oklahoma State with a dominant performance against Houston on Saturday afternoon. Kansas shot 68.9% (31-45) from the field, and Hunter Dickinson led the Jayhawks with 20 points. Freshman Johnny Furphy continued his recent breakout, adding 17 points and eight rebounds for the Jayhawks. Perhaps the most surprising storyline of the game though, was the fact that Kansas dominated Houston on the glass, out-rebounding Houston 40-24. Kansas will visit Kansas State in the Sunflower Showdown on Monday in what should be another great rendition of the in-state rivalry. Houston drops their third Big 12 game but will have a lighter schedule until a date with Baylor later this month at the new Foster Pavilion.

#3 UNC beats #7 Duke in the sport’s greatest rivalry

UNC controlled the game against Duke last night since the opening minutes, but Duke stayed within reaching distance throughout. Harrison Ingram’s five three-pointers was the story of the night for the Tar Heels, as Ingram finished with 21 points and 13 rebounds. UNC’s first half performance was dominant, their 45 first half points were the most Duke has given up in a first half this season. After a great first half, the Tar Heels continued to play good basketball, rounding out a 93-84 win in the second half. A bounce-back win for the Tar Heels after Tuesday’s upset loss to Georgia Tech was much needed. Duke’s loss was their second in the last five games, as the Blue Devils failed to get much production outside of Kyle Filipowski, Jared McCain, and Jeremy Roach. McCain continued his recent hot streak with 23 points and 11 rebounds, both team highs.
