Texas Tech Obliterates #6 Kansas on Big Monday

The Kansas Jayhawks came into Lubbock with positive spirits after a home win over Baylor, but the Red Raiders of Texas Tech started the game on fire. Texas Tech hit eight of their first 12 three-point attempts and took a 37-28 lead into halftime. Darrion Williams was the main man, finishing the game with 30 points on a perfect 12-12 from the field. The Red Raiders opened the game up in the second half behind Williams’ hot shooting, winning by a final score of 79-50. Kansas was without leading scorer Kevin McCullar Jr., and Dajuan Harris Jr., Hunter Dickinson, and KJ Adams were unable to cover for their missing teammate. The trio went a combined 5-30 from the field, and the game could’ve been much worse without solid games from Johnny Furphy and Nic Timberlake. Darrion Williams outscored the Kansas big three by himself 30-17 and was the only Red Raider above 11 points. Texas Tech is now 7-4, third in the Big 12, while KU has fallen to 7-5, 5th in the conference.

#4 Marquette looks for revenge at Hinkle Fieldhouse (6:30 ET, FS1)

Marquette comes to Hinkle Fieldhouse looking for revenge after a frustrating home loss to Butler just a month ago. The Golden Eagles flipped a switch following the loss, rattling off seven straight wins. Butler has gone 5-3 since the win over Marquette, adding another quality road win over that stretch at Creighton. Tyler Kolek will enter Hinkle Fieldhouse on a tear, averaging 25.3 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 10.0 apg and 2 spg over the last three games. Butler will hope that Posh Alexander’s experience and size can once again shut down Kolek, as he held the Marquette point guard to two points on 1-13 shooting in the teams’ first matchup. DJ Davis will look to continue a hot stretch of his own, averaging 20.8 ppg in the last six games for Butler. The result of this game will likely depend on how well the Bulldogs affect Tyler Kolek defensively.

#12 Baylor hosts #25 Oklahoma in Top 25 matchup (9:00 ET, ESPN2)

Baylor and Oklahoma both enter Tuesday night having won three of four games, and both find themselves in the top half of the Big 12 standings. Baylor sits in 4th place while the Sooners are tied at 6th place with TCU. Baylor came up short against Kansas on Saturday at Allen Fieldhouse but had won three straight prior and should be feeling positive about Saturday’s performance. The Sooners had a great week last week, dominating BYU at home before taking Oklahoma State down on Saturday. Yves Missi had a great week last week for the Bears, averaging 19.0 ppg during the two contests. Oklahoma will look to use John Hugley’s size inside to neutralize Missi and will have to hope for a great shooting night from Milos Uzan (8.8 ppg) and Javian McCollum (14.2 ppg). Baylor will have the edge at home and have a talented backcourt of their own in RayJ Dennis (13.3 ppg) and Ja’Kobe Walter (14.3 ppg).
