#15 Baylor beats TCU on the road after losing back-to-back games
In a drastically different scoreline than their first matchup, Baylor took down TCU 62-54. In the first matchup in Waco, it was the Horned Frogs who came away with the win, topping Baylor 105-102 in 3OT. Jalen Bridges had a great night for the Bears, scoring 15 points while grabbing eight rebounds and four steals. Baylor shut down the TCU offensive attack all night, holding the Horned Frogs to 54 points on 33.3% shooting. After this big road win, Baylor has two great chances to pick up quality wins at home, with Kansas and Texas coming to town over the next week. The Horned Frogs are still safely in the tournament field even after last night’s loss, but will need to finish the season strong, playing at BYU and West Virginia before hosting UCF.
Kansas State holds off West Virginia in OT after blowing 25-point lead
With 13 minutes left in the game, Kansas State led West Virginia 66-41 and looked like it would cruise to a third home win in the last four games. That didn’t come as easy as expected, with West Virginia roaring back to tie the game, and even take the lead on a Kerr Kriisa three-pointer with just over two minutes left. West Virginia held the lead for the last two minutes, but a pair of Tylor Perry free throws sent the game to overtime. Kansas State continued their excellence in the extra period, moving to 12-0 in overtime games under Jerome Tang. Perry finished with 29 points on six three-pointers, including one to take the lead in overtime for good. For West Virginia, Rae’Quan Battle scored 28 points, while Kriisa finished with 25. West Virginia’s season is over for all intents and purposes, but Kansas State clings hope to an at-large bid, with chances for big wins at Cincinnati and Kansas, and at home vs Iowa State in the final regular season game.
RJ Davis scores Smith Center record 42 points as UNC holds off Miami
RJ Davis had a career night for the Tar Heels, and the team needed every bit of it, holding off Miami 75-71. Davis’s 42 points was a career high and also set the Dean Smith Center scoring record with the mark. Davis and Harrison Ingram were great on the defensive side of things for UNC, combining for nine steals in the game. Miami got a big game out of Norchad Omier (22 points, five rebounds) and Bensley Joseph (21 points, six rebounds, five assists), but the 14 team turnovers proved costly in the end. Following a 2-3 stretch, the Tar Heels have now won three straight and look to pick up wins against Notre Dame and NC State at home before heading to Cameron Indoor to take on Duke on the final day of the regular season.
