Daily Headlines
All-WCC Freshman and San Diego transfer Kevin Patton Jr. commits to USC
Eric Musselman has now added 10 players via the transfer portal since taking the head coaching position at USC last month. Most of the transfers so far have been proven and veteran players, but Monday’s pickup for the Trojans could have the most potential out of all of them. San Diego transfer Kevin Patton Jr. is the player, a WCC All-Freshman team member, elite athlete, and great defender. Patton Jr. averaged 9.8 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 2.4 apg, 1.3 bpg, and 1.3 spg during his freshman campaign with the Toreros. Musselman is starting to put the final pieces into place for USC’s 2024-25 roster, and landing Patton Jr. was huge for the Trojans.
Clemson lands commitment from Illinois State grad transfer Myles Foster
The loss of PJ Hall in Clemson’s frontcourt was a hole that Brad Brownell needed to fill this offseason, and he’s done it through a combination of players. Getting fan favorite Ian Schieffelin to return was the first piece to fall into place, and Clemson has since added two big men via the transfer portal. The first was Cincinnati transfer Viktor Lakhin, and the second committed on Monday, Illinois State transfer Myles Foster. Foster stands just 6-7 but is a tremendous rebounder for his height, averaging 8.1 rpg along with 12.4 ppg last year in his lone season with the Redbirds. None of these three can individually match the impact of Hall, but together they can help stem the tide as the Tigers look to build off last year’s Elite Eight appearance.
Other Things to Note:
- Southeastern Louisiana transfer Roger McFarlane (15 ppg, 9 rpg) commits to Boston College
- Incarnate Word transfer Sky Wicks (14 ppg, 7 rpg) commits to UTSA
