Michael Nwoko is a 2023 6′ 10″ center out of The Burlington School in North Carolina. Nwoko runs the floor very well for his size and will continue to pick up steam on the recruiting trail in the next couple of years. Nwoko talked about his early recruitment and more with us.
Nwoko currently has offers from South Florida, Harvard, Siena, East Carolina, Houston, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest.
What schools would you say are recruiting you the hardest?
“As of right now, it would be Houston, Harvard, and Siena.”
What schools have you visited or plan to visit in the future?
“I have visited South Carolina, and I plan to visit all the schools that have offered me eventually.”
How would you describe your style of play to someone that hasn’t seen you play before?
“I’m a 6’10 F/C that can run the floor with ease. I can defend really well. I have a soft touch around the rim. I’m also very athletic.”
What are some schools showing interest that haven’t offered yet?
“VCU, Western Carolina, Furman, Charlotte, Holy Cross, Penn, Providence, App State, Buffalo, Virginia, Princeton, Cincinnati, South Carolina, Georgia, UNCG, Rice, Clemson, Cal, Texas A&M, Stanford.”
Did you have any dream schools growing up or are there any schools that haven’t contacted you yet but you’d like to hear from?
“As of right now, my dream school is Texas but that can always change.”
What was the experience on June 15th like when coaches could contact you directly?
“I got about 12 calls. I didn’t get offered once that day. It was good to know that they are looking at me.”
Nwoko also told us that he’s looking for a school with a great environment and great coaches. Nwoko is definitely a player to monitor over the next couple of seasons.
